With a voice like that, he was destined to be a pop star. A mash-up of his two huge tracks, “Never Gonna Give You Up” and “Together Forever.”
I love me some ABBA. This is one of my fave tracks from their 1980 album Super Trouper.
Warped this track to a steady 134 bpm, then added conga drums (think Tom Moulton), a new synth line, and used the intro as a break and outro. About 8 minutes total. Oh and don’t forget that quacking duck sample!
I’d love to add these to my collection, but they are now impossible to find. They’ve become a collector’s item. Too bad for me.
Wow, I have not done anything on this blog in a while. Work, family, friends, and social media have all kept me pretty busy. Especially the work part. Sigh.
I came across “Overkill” by Men At Work while flipping channels late one night (I think it was VH-1’s Classic 80’s). I remembered liking this song when I was a kid, so I decided to try my hand at giving this track the remix treatment.
During the overhaul, I wondered why there was no remix issued (not even a promo) of this track, it’s pretty catchy with a solid bass line.
Swapped out the original drums and percussion, but kept the original instruments and vocals intact. Upped the percussion, a new kick and snare, turned the bass guitar up, gave it a mid-break, extended the track to about 7:06, and here you have it:
So I saw the Volkswagen commercial again last night which featured their take on A-Ha’s “Take On Me”. I remembered doing a remix a couple of months ago when I first saw that ad, using the multitrack. Bounced a couple of tracks off each other and panned the tracks outward. Remix is over 7 minutes long.
After being the “only bird” for four years now, I’ve decided to bring home a friend for Louie in the form of Sunny, a lutino hen. So far, it’s still something of a standoff, with both sides sizing each other up.
Hopefully they will get along. Sunny is a mere eight weeks old compared to Louie’s four years.
On this one year anniversary of Donna Summer’s passing, I am posting a megamix I put together of her pre-1980 tracks, using Stars on 45 as the springboard.
Couldn’t really use the slower tracks like “Love To Love You Baby” and “Winter Melody”, nor the really fast ones like “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)” because I wanted to keep the mid-BPM tempo of the mix, just like Stars on 45 used to do with their tracks.
Some warping, editing, mixing, and weaving the hand claps through the whole mix, and here you have it.
Clocks in at just over 46 minutes. Good for those long road trips.

I’m craving some new Donna Summer material. Since that ain’t gonna happen, I’ve decided to look to the past for some inspiration for the present.
“Friends” is one of the tracks from Donna Summer’s debut album, “Lady Of The Night”, released back in 1974 in the Netherlands. I chose this particular track because of the powerful vocals and the catchy tune. And besides, is there anyone out there who has never crushed on a friend?
Warped it, edited it, and bassed it up. Running time is about 7:15 minutes.
Give it a listen.
… there was Donna Summer. Her passing last May made me realize that her music provided the soundtrack to my youth. I remember exactly where I was, what I was doing, what I was wearing, and later, who I was dating, with each album and song that was released. The beat, the music, and especially the voice, proved to be a powerful combination. She surely made a big impact on the music scene, and helped shape popular music history. Plus all the rumours, all the scandals, all the drama surrounding her public persona just made everything more interesting (to me, that is). So, from “Love to Love You Baby” until “To Paris With Love”, I followed her musical career until the end. I couldn’t ask for a better soundtrack to my life story.
This is a megamix that I put together some years back, and is based on her modern day Cinderella concept album, “Once Upon A Time”. I restructured the tracks to make it sound like she was reading/singing from a book of fairy tales. I matched the beats to all the songs so the entire mix is at a galloping 133 bpm and is about 34:41 minutes long. Throw in some samples and additional production, and here you have it:
